Pottery Santa Clara Margaret Tafoya

Margaret Tafoya is the famed Santa Clara potter of this collectable tan and red handcarved avanyu vase.  Measuring 16"H x 12 1/4"W,this pot is sought after for many reasons.  Margaret Tafoya is considered one of the most famous potters of our time from the Santa Clara Pueblo in New Mexico. She is deceased. It was believed that she produced few large red vases in our time that were carved with a tan background and with the avanyu design in her life time. Through her we see beautiful works by her decendents, her daughter, LuAnn Tafoya and granddaughter Linda Oyenque, naming only a couple of famed artists that have followed in her footsteps...and continue to produce works today.  This pot is considered rare, valuable and collectable among collectors.  Often replicated but never duplicated, Margaret Tafoya's works stand in a class all by it self.  Many can admire but only few can afford to own a Margaret Tafoya piece of pottery...For a vase such as this...we do offer a convenient  layaway.....
