Purchased from a private collection this one strand coral
heishi 6 directional all Turquoise
Fetish necklace set. There are a total of 11 Turquoise
fetishes represented in this necklace.
This necklace measures 12 1/2" end to end clasped.
Fetishes all average in size 1/2"H - 1"-1 1/4"W. Each of the
6 animals represented carries a medicine bundle
that consists of a yellow snail shell arrowhead right next to
each animal then a
senew wrap of pen shell and coral. This medicine bundle is
for healing and protection.
By wearing this necklace the Zuni's believe that this power
& meaning it carries then is transformed unto the wearer.
These animals represented in this six directional necklace set
and their meaning are as follows:
North = Mountian Lion = lives in the cold winds
representing leadership resourcefulness
South = Badger = guardian of the south reflects human passions
aggressiveness, perseverance
East = Wolf = where the sun rises signifying new beginnings and renewal.
teacher, pathfinder on the journey of survival
West = Bear = where Bear resides representing strength wisdom and self reflection
the power of the soul.
Above = Bald Eagle = where the eagle flies represents the deities
Below = Mole = where the mole resides amplifying connection with the earth protecting
the fields "underground"
As to the placement of these animals in relationship to and
with in this fetish necklace
from bottom of necklace is but one single Eagle= Representing
the rainbows Above
Next to the Eagle and just above it is the
Mountin Lion x 2 (one on each side) = North
Next to and just above the Mountain Lion is the Bear x 2 = West
Next to the Bear and above it is the Badger x 2 = South
Next to the Badger and above it is the Wolf x 2 = East
at the polar opposite at the top of the necklace sits Mole x 2 = Below

the one showing coral and turquoise. In one of the
photos listed you can see one other
fetish necklace that is a six directional fetish
necklace however it is a multi-color
six directional set necklace I am soon listing.
