Acquired from a private collection and now available for purchase this rare 1970's 14 Kt gold earring and necklace set
by Virginia Quam. In the 70's Wayne and Virginia Quam created some beautiful silver as well as gold jewelry.
What it looked like was as shown on this listing...
this multi-inlay jewelry using primarily 4 traditional Zuni colors red black white and blue.
Red would be oxblood coral black was jet or onyx, white was mother of pearl, then
blue would be sleeping beauty turquoise. By using these colors together
they were able to create a nice dramatic look in jewelry using nice eye catching bold cololrs.
Occasionally they would use yellow snail shell as well. In addition they used either gold or silver
making elaborate beautiful fancy edging another technique they used in their designs that
set themselves from many other artists. This set is signed by Virginia only. Wayne has passed.
This set is considered valuable and beautiful as well as collectable. It is one of the many
traditional styles the Zuni pueblo and inparticularly the work by
Wayne and Virginia Quam was known for creating.
Earrings are approximately 2"L as is the pendant.
The gold chain will be measured
upon my return to the gallery on Wednesday 5/12/21.
Thanks for looking!
