SOLD RARE Helen Cordero Polychrome Storyteller! Purchased from a private collection this
rare and collectable Helen Cordero Storyteller wearing striped shawl around shoulders
& baby in back had been in storage since the 1970's.
In the 60's Helen Cordero created the first Storyteller Doll. She was influenced by her grandfather
who would have the children sit up on his lap and then he would tell Helen and all the children
stories about their folk lore. This influenced her to recreate her "Storyteller Doll",so then "Storyteller Dolls"
soon became known and sought after. To this day Helen Cordero's are the most sought after.
From her creation came all the other storyteller dolls you see from other Pueblos and other artists.
Each will vary in style clay type, weight coloration and form.
Measures 9 "H x 4 " W x 8 1/2"D. This storyteller is "one of three" in total of Helen Cordero's that are
of similar size we have purchased. Each unique and one of a kind!
Currently 2/2/17, they are all available for purchase.
A storyteller of this age has normal wear and tear which is to be expected and we have
factored this into the price as more than often her pieces command a higher price than we are asking.
This particular Storyteller is in good shape for its age.
For best results remember, always when picking storytellers up pick up from the base gently
and do not attempt to pick them up by their heads. Also for best results don't let
anyone handle this piece except for you.
