SOLD this Navajo Pawn Rainbow God Necklace.
This necklace was acquired from a private collection and now available for your review.
The technique used to create these individual Rainbow God figures, half circles thin figures with faces, is called sandcast.
This is achieved when you take liquid silver and pour it into the shape in sand that you have pre-created.
This technique was popular in the 1960-1970's. This is a pawn necklace. What is pawn? There is new pawn
then there is old pawn. Old pawn in this case is Native American jewelry made by Native
American Indians to be worn by Native American Indians and for one reason or another ended up in pawn then sold
to an individual where it found itself on the marketplace available for sale. Back in the day
and sometimes today bartering for items is something Native Artists often did.
It is a common practice for anyone to do this then and today.
It is just something that has been done for centuries.
At a later date then they may have gone back to redeem
their item pawned for cash or goods or services
or often they did not return to pick up their item pawned,
in which case it became available to others to own and enjoy.
It is something that each person decides to do
or not to do as it is their choice and done by their choosing.
On this listing I have included several necklace photos from which you may choose.
These necklaces are either currently being shown in the Mudhead Gallery and now as well online.
Keep in mind the only necklace you will be purchasing on this listing is the featured necklace only.
All other necklaces will have their own listing. If you don't see the other necklaces
having their own listing when you check out our website that will mean one of two things.
The necklace has already sold or possibly I just have not gotten to the point where
I am able to list that particular item
as we have 100 squash blossom necklaces in the Mudhead Gallery and we have
100's of other necklaces such as this which does not qualify as a squash blossom
necklace because it has no squash blossoms on it.
Thanks for looking!
